We see patients from around the world.
To help our patients become comfortable with us, we feature a preliminary
remote package. You will need to complete information forms, send
us images (see below), and have a telephone discussion with the doctor.
This introduction supplements our in office educational experience.
Please call our office for further information. There is a fee for
this preliminary evaluation.

| Fill the image with the region between the neck and the knees. It is very difficult to analyze the abdomen on an image that includes the entire body. Detail is lost if the important information occupies only a small part of the frame. Include the entire region from neck to knees unless you are including an additional view of a detail you want to demonstrate. |
If using flash, point the flash so that the shadows do not obscure the important breast outline. This is done by having camera mounted flash on the same side as the stomach and the camera towards the back. This is not as great a concern when no flash is used.
| Focus the camera. The body should be in focus. You may need to take the camera off of its automatic setting to get the stomach in focus. Blurred images are difficult to evaluate. |
Do not use a mirror to take the pictures.
| Choose your background carefully. Pick an uncluttered background with no mirrors. A mirror or glass surface can reflect a flash and make photographs difficult to evaluate. A plain matte background is best. Avoid background clutter. Try to pick a contrasting flat background behind you that does not detract from the stomach. |
Please check your images before sending them to us. You should be able to clearly see your problem on your pictures. For a Preliminary Remote Discussion to be effecive, Dr. Bermant needs to see pictures that demonstrate your concerns. |

The photos must include AT LEAST as much as in these images. The view should extend from the neck to below the knees. The arms should be a little way away from the sides except the bending over view to evaluate symmetry (evenness). Holding the camera in one arm makes it impossible to determine any differences between the left and right sides. |

For Details about each image, please check the examples below. If there is something you feel is best demonstrated by a specific different view, please include that detail. We are interested in your concerns. |

Body Lift Front Picture
Before body contouring surgery photos:
Pictures should fill the frame of the image. Detail is lost if the important
information occupies only a small part of the frame. The
view may extend to the shoulder and down to the knees.
The frontal view should have the body parallel to the camera film plane.

Body Lift Left & Right Lateral (Side) Photos
Side photos should be perpendicular to the camera film plane. Side and oblique views can have the arms at the sides (which in some cases will obscure details). In some cases it is better to have the arms behind the back to show possible concerns they would otherwise obscure. Raising the arms can stretch loose tissue and can distort the anatomy.
Try to have a plain background without clutter. Be careful not to hide your contour concerns in shadows.

Body Lift Front Oblique Pictures
Oblique pictures should be at 45 degrees and half way between the frontal and side photographic views.
The images should be in focus. Blurred pictures have little value for Dr. Bermant.

Body Lift Back Oblique Photos
Posterior oblique pictures should be at 45 degrees and half way between the back and side photographic views.

Body Lift Posterior (Back) Photos and Bending Over Pictures
The back view is important. This picture can show if the problem extends around the torso requiring contouring around the entire body. Bending over photograph lets it all hang out, the folds of flesh show up more.

Loose Skin Pictures From Front
Pulling loose skin from front right and left
Loose skin folds can be demonstrated by holding the extra skin for a photo. We need to see the loose tissue from different sides. Please provide this entire set of six pictures showing the extra skin pulled up:

Loose Skin Pictures From Back
Pulling loose skin from front right and left
Pictures before Body Lift from the back show a hanging or drooping buttocks. The smaller the underwear or bathing suite, the better the problem will show. The more the clothing hides the problem, the less Dr. Bermant will understand the extent of what needs to be done.
Sometimes loose skin hangs down to or below the knee. Pulling extra tissue from the sides shows the change in the thighs and buttocks best.
Some scars can also be demonstrated with pictures.
If you feel that other pictures better demonstrate your concerns, please include those views also.
Photographs can be mailed to us. If you want them back, please include return postage. E-mail of compressed images is also possible. Medium JPEG compression permits faster uploads and downloading. Images can be as small as what you see here. 200 pixel high photos are fine for computer viewing and quick transmission.
Images only show up so much detail and do not replace the in office examination and evaluation. I need to feel and observe the tissue:
- how loose / tight
- how it moves
- how elastic
- scars
- possible hernias
- possible numb or sensitive areas
