Your tissues will be more comfortable after Tumescent Liposuction when they are not jiggling around. Compression also helps control swelling and bruising. Dr. Bermant's patients are individually fitted for their compression garment before surgery. Patients finish their operation in a Stage 1 Compression garment. This garment is designed to get in and out of with less discomfort and tissues trauma. Hooks and zippers on side openings assist in getting the garments on and taking them off. Our patients wear their Stage 1 Compression for about two weeks full time and then part time for a third week. Longer compression helps for more extensive sculpture. After the protection of Phase I Compression, longer compression can help evolve tissues. Scars that evolve under pressure do better than scars without pressure. This is called Stage 2 Compression. Different styles are available for the various zones treated by the Tumescent Liposuction. We help fit our patients in an elastic garment specially designed for this surgery. A girdle like pants is used for the buttocks and thighs. An elastic vest is used for the male chest.
