Nipple Inversion and Surgical Correction of Inverted Nipples
Dr. Bermant uses different surgical techniques to fix inverted nipples depending on the problem to be treated. Typical surgery can be done in an outpatient setting under local anesthesia. A small incision at the inverted nipple areola junction give access to the tethered structure to be released. Just what needs to be released depends on the degree of nipple inversion. Dr. Bermant typically performs this inverted nipple tissue release below the surface so that the tube that will become the nipple has tissue to fill the skin. Sutures complete the nipple sculpture.
