Have the Breast Stopped Growing?
Each woman's breast growth matures at a different age. Reduction mammoplasty
is best after the breasts have fully grown. However, some women experience
massive breast growth that is just too uncomfortable to deal with the
heavy weight. Options include waiting until the breasts have finished
growing or deal with the chance of the need for repeat surgery.

Young patients also need their parents' permission for surgery. Any plastic
surgery in a young patient should be approached cautiously. At Bermant
Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery, we take extra time better understanding
the problem and issues for that individual. We do not rush any young patient's
surgery. Each case is different, but in this young woman's surgery was
not done until 6 months after we first saw her and family.

Here are the markings Dr. Bermant places the day before surgery showing
the plans for the breast reduction. With the short scar technique, this
patient's wound went around the areola, down to the crease under the breast,
and a short distance to the outer chest. The central scar was eliminated.
