Benelli Donut Mastopexy Short Scar Breast Lift
When the breast ptosis (drooping breast)
is not as severe as in the first
example, shorter scars are possible. Notice that even in this smaller
degree of breast ptosis, the nipples and areola have migrated to the lower
pole of the breast. The mass of the breast has moved downward losing a
youthful appearance.
Breast can naturally have a ptotic appearance. Breasts enlarge during pregnancy as the glands prepare for milk production. As the glands return to their normal size, the breast's skin and suspension ligaments may stay stretched resulting in drooping. The same problem can happen after weight loss.

Smaller degrees of breast ptosis can sometimes be corrected with a "doughnut"
skin excision around the areola. By removing more skin above the areola,
they can be moved back to a more natural position. Frequently a larger
area of undermining is used to adjust the breast contour. The scar is
around the areola. Since there can be a significant difference in the
size of the skin edges sewn, some skin
wrinkling may be seen after surgery. Another example of tissue evolution
can be found here. Most of this contour
irregularity resolves during the fist several months after surgery. The
time for this change depends on the surgical technique and how you heal.
If the difference becomes too great, a scar that descends below the breast
can accommodate the tissue.
Short Scar Regnault Breast Lift Mastopexy
As the breasts become more ptotic, the three dimensional puzzle is beyond
the "doughnut" technique. Among the many short scar methods,
this Regnault "Type B" mastopexy results in an additional scar
descending down to the breast crease and extending laterally. The actual
configuration depends on the breast shape and degree of ptosis. This breast
suspension scar is much smaller than the anchor
incision.

With this short scar Breast Lift Mastopexy, the scar continues down and under the breast extending laterally. This lateral extension of the scar can result in much less initial wrinkling.
Other short scar techniques include the LeJour Lollipop Breast Lift scar where the scar extends around the areola and then vertically to the breast crease. With this Vertical Scar Breast Lift, there are no breast crease extensions with this short scar technique. However, significant skin wrinkles and puckers can take several months to even out.
