Earlobe Setback Otoplasty for creased ear lobe.

The earlobes can protrude from the head. This protrusion can be part of the entire ear sticking out or by itself causing an earlobe crease or fold. Ear lobe setback can sometime be an important part of otoplasty surgery balancing the various elements. Start here for an introduction to various techniques that may be needed to bring the earlobes closer to the head. In this particular patient, the ear lobes projected beyond all other ear components. During macrotia ear reduction, conchal bowl vertical narrowing can result in changes to both the upper and lower ear projection. Adjustment of the lobes and upper ear must be evaluated during the otoplasty sculpture.

Earlobe set back otoplasty needs fine adjustment during surgery. Dr. Bermant checks for balance and harmony of the different ear components and adjusts the ear lobe position with various techniques depending on the specific problem and how the correction evolves during the otoplasty.

Sometimes each ear has different problems and the sculpture may require different techniques.

A typical earlobe setback otoplasty does not need a bulky dressing. Because of the macrotia ear reduction, this ear needed protection with a formal ear dressing.
