Earlobe Setback Otoplasty for creased ear lobe.
This ear surgery can be difficult and require attention to many details. After reduction of the helix of ear, extra helical tail must be adjusted. The smaller auricle means extra skin. Dr. Bermant balances this redundant tissue as he completes this macrotia otoplasty ear reduction.

Helix Rim and Auricle Reduction: With the ear reduced, the Helix Rim is too long. |
Reattaching the helix rim cartilage flap starts at the top front for this particular macrotia otoplasty. The smaller size auricle means there will be extra helix rim cartilage and skin.

Most otoplasty pinback surgery does not need the incision across the center of the ear. In macrotia reduction otoplasty, this incision permits a central section of the ear to be reduced. Skin sutures were removed 6 days after surgery.
This ear needs protection with a formal ear dressing which this patient wore for 3 days. Each case is different and Dr. Bermant will advise you how long your dressing will need to be worn.
