Eyelid Reconstruction Mustarde Cheek Flap - for Basal Cell Carcinoma
Start out with the surgery page for this problem. This operation for the eyelid cancer is time consuming to repeat excising the tumor until the margins are negative. I used Mohs' modified microsurgery for the frozen section control of the margins. The early results seen there were in the operating room. Swelling goes down rapidly after surgery. The entire cheek needed to be rotated to create enough tissue to rebuild the extensive defect. The suture line continues towards the ear. The muscle rotated into the eyelid nerve's supply is preserved during surgery. Reconstructing the eyelid with working muscle, there is better function and appearance. 2 weeks after surgery
7 weeks after surgery.
4 months after surgery.
