This 75 year old female had a previous face lift 10 years ago by another surgeon. Eyelid surgery was also done around the same time. She asked to address the tissue that had sagged over time. Her main concerns were the neck, jowls, jaw line, under her chin, and her cheeks. She did not want anything done to her eyes upperface and lips.

Although the entire face ages, a patient can select what aspects bother them the most and limit the surgery. An upper and lower eyelid blepharoplasty and malar lift were discussed and rejected by the patient.

A facelift does not stop the march of time. The face contines to age. Secondary surgery can return sagging features to a more youthful position. Notice how the neckline, jowls and under chin regions have been restored. The cheeks have been lifted. This was done with a secondary neck and facelft operation (rhytidectomy).

Secondary facelift and neck lift surgery is frequently more difficult than surgery done for the first time. Deeper tissues scar making dissection of the planes harder. The degree of difficulty depends on the current problem, what was done before, and how the patient healed.
