Tumescent Microcannula Liposuction or Microliposuction
 | Tumescent microcannular liposuction uses very small tubes to sculpt the fat. These small cannula permit a smaller skin incision in certain cases. Microcannula take out smaller amounts of fat with each pass offering more control when needed. |
As a sculptor, Dr. Bermant may use these microcannula among a palette of other tools during liposuction depending on the particular problem to be treated. One instrument does not serve all needs.
Microcannula are much smaller than the small normal cannula for liposuction. At the top is a small 3 mm cannula. Below are 14 gauge and 16 gauge microcannula for micro liposuction techniques. |  |
In this case of secondary male breast reduction after another doctor's initial surgery, the microcannula was very valuable in putting in the tumescent solution and navigating the scar tissue. After removing the gland left behind by the other doctor, the microcannula then helped with the fine microliposuction needed of the remaining fat. Tumescent anesthesia minimizes bruising, swelling, and discomfort after surgery. |  |
