Anatomy of Puffy Nipple Gynecomastia
Puffy Nipple Gynecomastia typically consists of Gland and Fat that distort the Nipple Areola. Unlike what most anatomy drawings depict, Gland is white in the body and looks like connective tissue. The Dermis is the layer of skin just under the outer epidermis. Muscle is covered by Muscle Fascia. The Superficial Fascia System (SFS) connects the Dermis to the Muscle Fascia and suspends the superficial structures. The more Fat and Gland, the more Puffy Nipples project from the chest. Remaining Gland after Gynecomastia Surgery can leave the nipples puffy especially when the areola muscle relaxes letting the firmer tissues define the shape. Some surgeons leave gland under the areola to "minimize crater deformity." The result can be Pointed Puffy Nipples after such surgery. Dr. Bermant prefers his Dynamic Technique that targets gland first. Under direct visualization, he divides the gland off from the nipple areola complex, minimizing remaining gland. Removing sufficient gland from the axilla, even with sharp cutting cannula, endoscopic tools, or other such instruments can leave Residual Gland or result in scar deformity from surgical injury.
Dr. Bermant sees many patients for Revision Gynecomastia Surgery after other doctor's using other techniques.
The actual size and shape of the male breast gland can vary in each breast and each individual as seen in this Gynecomastia Gland Photo Gallery.
