Standard Photos of Male Chest Contours Gynecomastia male breast surgery by Dr. Bermant

Dr. Bermant evolved a series of standard photographs to better document the contours of the body both at rest and in motion living life. He saw patients from around the world. To minimize travel he developed a Preliminary Remote Package to define and understand patient problems. Specific history forms helped define potential problems needing stabilization before considering surgical options. A telephone discussion was then based on a fairly detailed, specific problem and a specific solution explaining risks benefits and alternate methods of care. The system worked so well that for most, surgery could be scheduled the day after a confirmatory in office examination.

This page represents a standardized method and format and how to take pictures of the male chest. The poses and muscle flexing provide a more critical analysis of problems, contours, potential loose skin issues. This Standard Picture Sets then evolved in to a system he used to improve his own surgical technique and educate his patients as to typical bruising, swelling, recovery after surgery, and results.

Male chest standardized photos can also be used to document the path to recovery after injury, progress in medical management, bodybuilding and weight loss. For weight loss, how well skin adapts needs the additional views found in Male Mastopexy Chest Lift for Sagging Standard Pictures. The bending over views show a standard force (gravity) pulling on the excess.

For a more detailed analysis of scars use his Revision Surgery and Standard Pictures of Chest After Surgery. Movies are an even better way to see how tissues move. Use his Standard Videos to document the Male Chest orchestration of movement for an even more critical contour analysis.

Check List for Technique Issues - Chest Photos for Gynecomastia

gynecomastia male breast photos pictures and standard images Fill the image with the breast(s).
It is very difficult to analyze the breast on an image that includes the entire body. Detail is lost if the important information occupies only a small part of the frame. Both breasts should be on the same image unless you are including an additional view of a detail you want to demonstrate.
gynecomastia male breast photos pictures and standard images If using flash, point the flash so that the shadows do not obscure the important breast outline. This is done by having camera mounted flash on the same side as the breast and the camera towards the body. This is not as great a concern when no flash is used.
gynecomastia male breast photos pictures and standard images Focus the camera.
The chest / breast are what should be most in focus. You may need to take the camera off of its automatic setting to get the nipple in focus. Blurred images are difficult to evaluate.
gynecomastia male breast photos pictures and standard images Do not use a mirror to take the pictures.
gynecomastia male breast photos pictures and standard images If cold or stimulation are factors, make sure the room is warm, the areola muscle relaxed, and the puffy nipple problem can be seen.
gynecomastia male breast photos pictures and standard images Choose your background carefully.
Pick an uncluttered background with no mirrors. A mirror or glass surface can reflect a flash and make photographs difficult to evaluate. A plain matte background is best. Avoid background clutter. Try to pick a contrasting flat background behind you that does not detract from the chest.

Please check your images before sending them to us. You should be able to clearly see your problem on your images.

For a Preliminary Remote Discussion to be effective, Dr. Bermant needed to see pictures that demonstrate your concerns.

The photos must include AT LEAST as much as in these images. The view should extend from the neck to the abdomen.

The arms should be at the sides except where indicated to evaluate symmetry (evenness). Holding the camera in one arm makes it impossible to determine any differences between the left and right sides.

For Details about each image, please check the examples below.

If there is something you feel is best demonstrated by a specific different view, please include that detail. We are interested in your concerns.

Front Arms on Hips Pectoral Muscles Tightened

Front views with muscles at rest and tense can sometimes show the mass more. The tensing pushes the mass out. This photograph can also show what the muscles contribute to the problem.

Images only show up so much detail and do not replace the in office examination and evaluation. Dr. Bermant preferred to feel and observe the tissue:
