Nasal Dorsal Hump Deformity Gainsborough - Fitzherbert
The nose has a great impact on facial appearance. Notice how a dorsal hump reduction and slight lift of the tip changes the face on this painting of Thomas Gainsborough (Mrs. M. Fitzherbert 1780). Some do not mind when their nose has a drooping appearance. Some prefer the look of the "rhinoplasty" (computer simulated) on the right. Which is better looking? Does it really matter? That is what rhinoplasty education is all about. I use a computer during my consultation to help a patient understand what options are realistic and which are not. Plastic surgery is not as easy as computer simulation. The flesh obeys its own laws and is not as malleable as bits and bytes. Helping a patient understand REALISTIC expectations usually leads to happier results. See an actual case of dorsal hump reduction and explore what rhinoplasty has to offer.
