Rhinoplasty Surgery Narrowing the Nostrils with Floor Excision

Planning size of nasal width and nostril floor resection

Measuring the width between the corners of the eyes (intercanthal distance) with a caliper

Both nostrils are now narrowed, skin sutures yet to be placed. Notice the width has been reduced, but the natural ethnic shape remains. Careful sculpture is important to minimize notching and visible scars.

Absorbable sutures do most of the work holding this repair so that any skin sutures can be removed early after surgery. Small nylon sutures on external wounds further approximate the skin. They will need to be removed in about 6 days after surgery.
