Rhinoplasty Surgery Septal Graft to Support Tip

Tip graft to columella to support nasal tip

This patient had poor tip support. Facial muscles during normal expression deflected the nose in an unappealing fashion. Most nasal tips have some help from the end of the septum. In this patient there was a gap between the septum and the tip cartilage. Dr. Bermant added a piece of septal graft (gray) between the cartilage to increase tip support. The tissue wall between the nostrils is called the columella.

There are many possibilities in the Black nasal tip. Surgery does not need to destroy the ethnic nature and build it to unnatural heights from the face. Basic rhinoplasty techniques can enhance positive features and minimize negative ones.

The cartilage graft is vertically oriented in the columella between the original tip cartilage.

 

Columella cartilage graft to support nasal tip between lower lateral cartilages

Cartilage graft after being sutured into place. You can just see the tip of the graft still projecting between the cartilage domes.

This graft was just for strengthening the tip for projection. A tip graft can also be used for many other possible functions in nasal sculpture.
