Rhinoplasty Surgery Dorsal Septal Graft

Dorsal cartilage graft to the nose in black rhinoplasty

This patient has a depression between her nasal bones and tip. Narrowing the bones and tip would increase the difference without building up this region. Dr. Bermant used an upside down U shaped graft from the septum and secured it to underlying cartilage.

Grafts can be powerful sculpting tools in reshaping the nose. Donor sites most commonly used include the septum, ear, skull, and ribs. A graft needs to get its blood supply from its new home.

Here the graft is sized for the region. Dr. Bermant then shaped the graft before inserting.
Cartilage graft in place during rhinoplasty

The graft is under the skin but not yet seated in the depression. Dr. Bermant feathered the lateral edges of the graft to minimize it showing under the skin. Dr. Bermant then sutured it to the underlying cartilage.
