Rhinoplasty Septoplasty and Septal Resection
to improve Deformity and Obstruction of the Nose
20 year old female who had been concerned about the appearance of her
nose since an early age. She did not know of any specific trauma to the
nose. Although not aware of it, she had a significant nasal airway obstruction
in addition to her bent nose.

Female Patient Bent Nose
The nose can be bent in many planes. From the side, only part of
the deformity can be seen. Look at the photos of the face from the
front. This is a three dimensional problem and starts with the support
system of bone and cartilage. The septum and nasal bones were part
of this deformity.
The dorsal hump detracted from her face, removing it, changed
the focal point. This patient decided against maxillofacial recontouring.
She also did not want a chin advancement. She settled for orthognathic
repositioning of her teeth and a septoplasty and rhinoplasty (septorhinoplasty).
Nasal surgery should be planned after facial recontouring for the
best result. Notice the improvement just with the hump removal with
the rhinoplasty and the general contour change with the orthognathic
manipulation. Her breathing problems were treated with the septoplasty |

Female Patient Bent Nose
From the front before surgery, the nose was bent to the right. To
straighten her nose the nasal bones had to be centered. The bent
septum also had to be moved to the center. |
