This patient did not like the left ear protrusion. He also has one ear lower than the other (which he did not want to change.) Left side only otoplasty ear surgery included anterior cartilage scoring and Mustarde suture folding of antihelix.

The left ear exposure was mainly through an incision on the back of the ear. The incision is hidden behind the ear. Ear surgery in African Americans must be done carefully to minimize keloid scar formation. This patient does not have a tendency to hypertrophic scars.

Notice how little bruising and swelling are present only 3 days after surgery. By 1 week, there is still a little swelling left. The small incision for the front scoring was hidden under the upper rim of the ear.
