The bones and cartilage support the soft tissues of the nose. The flat Asian nose is a product of these characteristic structures. Nasal bones are wide and do not project very far. The upper lateral cartilages and septum also contribute to this profile.

There is great variation possible. All different degrees of lack of projection are possible in the non-Caucasian nose.

The Asian nose is naturally wide. This is part of its beauty. Just how wide the nose should be is different for each face. There is a personal choice in degree. Notice how the nose was narrowed to fit her face, yet maintained the ethnic nature.

The bones, cartilage, and nostrils widths were reduced.

The red lines on the photographs to the left indicate where the nasal bones were cut. Each bone and upper lateral cartilage were then moved towards the center. This raised the dorsum slightly.
