Tummy Tuck for Loose Skin after Pregnancy
This 33 year old female was not happy with her hanging loose skin and general flabbiness around the abdominal region. She was 5 foot 9 inches and weighed 135 pounds but had gone up to 200 pounds during pregnancy. There is a transverse caesarian scar above the pubic region that was adherent to the deeper tissues and accentuated the fold before surgery.

Redundant skin after pregnancy usually resolves itself over the first several months. This is 10 years after and will not go away by itself. Exercise nor dieting will improve the loose skin. |

Abdominoplasty surgery tightened the rectus muscles, removed loose skin and fat. Surgical sculpture of the abdomen is done through an incision. Dr. Bermant's patients are asked to bring a bathing suit to plan the incision line in the fashion they prefer. The longer incision permits a greater amount of redundant skin to be removed with the tummy tuck. Patients having less tissue for removal can have shorter incisions (see mini-tuck pages).
