17 Days After Dr. Bermant's Pinback Otoplasty Ear Sculpture - Travel from Eastern Virginia for Dr. Bermant's Surgery

I am very pleased with the outcome.   I should have done this earlier.   My ear has been bothering me for years and I just never thought it could be done.   It was always in the back of my mind but I never actually followed through and sought to get it fixed.   I was always thinking about it and searching through the Internet and came across your website.   I found it very informative and decided to make an appointment for a consultation.    I found the experience very happy, very comfortable throughout the whole procedure, especially the outcome of it.   I didn't know what to expect, but now I'm very happy.   Having the operation was over all a good experience.   I didn't know what to expect at first, but everyone was very helpful, recovery was fine and everything was fine.

The comfort level was very good.   I needed very little pain medication. I think I took one pill total, the heavy duty, and sporadically took Tylenol - before bedtime - and that was about it.

The first formal ear dressing was better than the second one. The second one bothered me a little more - my nerves were starting to come back.   The first one was not bad.

From my experience, my ear has bothered me for so many years, now after the surgery, I know I should have come earlier to see you to get this fixed.   I would tell other people definitely go out and have a consultation and you will be happy with the results.

2 Days After Dr. Bermant's Macrotia Otoplasty Ear Reduction and Sculpture - Travel from Texas for Dr. Bermant's Surgery

I think my ears look great.   I didn't think they could look like this.   This is what I wanted.   These are beautiful.   Just beautiful.

The operation has gone beyond what I thought.   I didn't think it would go this smoothly.

Everything has gone very smoothly.   You have everything down to a science.   In the beginning I wanted to do it all in one shot. (Come in for surgery the same day as the consultation instead of taking the time to think about my options and the extensive information you helped me with during my consultation about my big ears.)   I was glad we didn't do it that way.   I prefer it doing it in steps.   Surgery itself was a piece of cake.   I wasn't nervous and everything went well.    I tried to stay awake during surgery; everything was very quiet and very peaceful.   The results, oh my gosh, I think they are great.   You cover every thing, and a lot of times I would just re-read everything you had given me.

Everything went very smoothly.   You know, before the surgery you're psyched.   I just kept reading everything about surgery.

I went to another doctor 20 years ago and I left there because I was not confident at all that he could do what I wanted.     And then he tried to take me down a different path and not only do my ears but do something else, and that was it.    I never felt that way with you.   I always felt that you took everything very slowly you didn't make any promises, and I felt very confident with you.

I didn't have to take a pain pill to go to bed that night.   I have only taken three pain pills, but really only needed to.    I haven't taken anything really.   I have been comfortable since surgery.   My ears look great, they look great.    I am so happy.   My ears have bothered me since I was 5 years old.   Mainly, now I cannot be so self-conscious going out swimming with my girls and everything else.   I am just so excited.   My husband said your going to grow your hair out now and wear it in a ponytail.   Wow, they look really great.   They look really wonderful.

6 Days After Dr. Bermant's Macrotia Otoplasty Ear Reduction and Sculpture - Travel from Texas for Dr. Bermant's Surgery

I think they look great.   They look beautiful.   They're smaller.   They're what I wanted but never dreamed I could have because I never thought it was possible until I saw you web site.   I thought I would be in a lot more pain.   After surgery, I took three Lortabs total since the surgery.   At night, I want to be careful not to lay on the ears.   I turn but keep my head still.

Everything went very smoothly - very smoothly.   I never felt rushed.   It felt good to have someone on the other end helping me.   Everyone working together is great.   In the business I am in, I needed to feel someone calm on the other side.   I never dreamed you could do this for me. You never hear about this.   You are the only one that I found that has the ear sculpting.   I didn't know if you were going to be able to do it. I didn't know if you would be able to do it, but your very particular. From the first time when I sent you those (out of focus) pictures, and you weren't happy, I was glad that you weren't happy with them.

You covered everything- about the price, everything, and travel, everything.   I thought that I came up with is a picture of how I wanted to ears to look.   I happened to be pinching my ear, and what if I hadn't    pinched my ear.    May be you would have had a different idea than what I had.   So, this photo helped you?   Yes.   I think it's exactly what I have.   You have to be quite a bit of an artist to be so exact.

I am glad you are happy with your results. Thank you for sharing your experiences about your otoplasty ear surgery with us.

1 Month After Dr. Bermant's Bilateral Pinback Otoplasty Ear Sculpture - Travel from New Jersey for Dr. Bermant's Surgery

I did not want to tie up my hair because my ears looked weird. But now it is really different. I like it.

I can wear earrings now. Before the surgery I thought it would take a couple of weeks for me to be comfortable. But after the surgery it only took me three days to feel very comfortable. I only took three pills after surgery - 3 pain pills. The surgery was easy, very easy for me. Patients need to know what kind of surgery they need, they need your help. Thank you Dr Bermant, you're the best.

Dr. Bermant responds:

Thank you for your kind words about your otoplasty surgical sculpture.

2 Days After Dr. Bermant's Bilateral Pinback Otoplasty Ear Sculpture - Travel From Northern Virginia for Ear Surgery

Two days after surgery I’m having a hard time believing everything is real.  I’m in a little bit of disbelief. I never thought I would have normal ears.  I had less pain than I had anticipated from some stories I had heard and read.  I used about 4 pain pills on the day of surgery, 1/2 of a pain pill about 5 times the day after surgery and today I have taken only extra strength Tylenol.

My experience has been very nice.  Everyone here is very nice.  On the day of surgery I don’t think I believed it was happening.  I waited for so long to have my nose done.  It didn’t register until I woke up after surgery that I really really did this.

I was prepared to be utterly miserable from what I had heard and read from other websites and testimonials.  Other patients on the web had talked about pain, bleeding and throbbing – a lot of painful throbbing.  I had none of that.

Two days after surgery I feel great.  It turned out better than I had hoped.

4 Days After Dr. Bermant's Bilateral Pinback Otoplasty Ear Sculpture - Travel From Northern Virginia for Ear Surgery

I had been reading for a long time about the surgery itself.  I knew I did not want my ears only pinned back, I wanted their shape to be different, significantly different, especially on the left side.  I wanted to find a doctor who had experience doing lots of different kinds of ears and coming out with many different outcomes.  I read about otoplasty surgery itself and read a lot of horror stories of how bad it was going to hurt.  Most of what I found was just about a pin back not a sculpting of the ears.  When I found your website it was the first time  I realized you had different procedures to offer that could give me the final look that I wanted which wasn’t just my big ear closer to my head, a significantly different look.

On your web site there was no patient that was exactly like me, the asymmetry I felt I had.  After thinking a lot and trying to be realistic about the outcome and what ears really do look like, because ears are not the most beautiful feature people have, and going back to your website and looking at the people with their before and after pictures may not be perfect ears but are much better looking than the original start ear, and that is what mattered.

You made me deal with the fact that I really needed to think about what I wanted my ears to look liked and not just have an emotional response. In relationship to my face for the rest of my life because  this was a permanent decision I was making and not just go into it “I hate my ears, and I want them to be different  and I don’t care how.”   It made me think realistically about what I wanted and not just deal with the emotion that I had about it.  I had to think about what I really wanted to do about my ears.

I honestly don’t remember my experience in the operating room.  I remember your O.R. glasses and your hat.  I remember my hair being rinsed.  I was never stressed and I was never scared.  I don’t’ believe I thought the whole thing was happening.

My recovery was good.  The dressing was frustrating.    I have been trying to listen to my body.  Bending over and standing up quickly is not the most comfortable thing to do. Picking up heavy things the first days was not a good idea.  I rested a lot.  The first day of surgery I wasn’t miserable but my left ear was pretty sore.  The second day it was considerably less.  By the third day I took Tylenol in the morning and nothing again till evening.  I took 8 total pain pills since surgery.

I think seeing the outcome was wonderful. My ears are beautiful and amazing.

I think my experience was better than I anticipated.  Everyone here has been very nice and very accommodating and willing to answer my questions a hundred times.  I have been wanting to do this since I was 6.   Nobody here made fun of me or downplayed that this was a really big thing for me.  I didn’t think I anticipated my emotional needs being met in addition to the final physical outcome.

I’ve been thinking that the next time I go out I’m going to wear my hair up and I never wear my hair up when I go out.  I think I just think about my ears differently.  I would do it again.

7 Months After Dr. Bermant's Bilateral Pinback Otoplasty Ear Sculpture - Travel From Northern Virginia for Ear Surgery

Hi Dr. B!

I got the message from Jane asking for the pictures that I sent to --. As you can see, my ears have turned out to be quite lovely! I will never be able to thank you enough. I am so thrilled to have the opportunity to share my experience with --, I really cannot say enough good things about you, your wonderful staff and how far my expectations were exceeded!

This surgery has given me so much confidence. I started going to the gym and I have lost nearly 20 pounds. I finally feel that I can be truly beautiful. I have never felt that way before.

I hope that all is well down south. I promised Jane that I would make my way down there after the first of the year so that you can take a look. All of the swelling is gone, the skin on the back of my ears seems to have straightened itself out and I do not have anymore weird sensations. I can even feel the little permanent sutures, but I do not touch them often. I am still very cautious with my ears - I will never understand why people want to hug other people's head's so hard!

Anyway, I hope that you are as pleased as I am with the outcome!

All the best!

Dr. Bermant responds:

Thank you for sharing your experiences.
